| Parker: Ovello is one of Barbaresco’s fresher microclimates, so it can be no surprise that the 2001 Barbaresco Riserva Ovello is quite backward at this stage. It is a stunning display of Nebbiolo with expressive aromatics, generous fruit, prominent minerality and plenty of personality. Full-bodied and long on the palate, it is still somewhat reticent today, although all the ingredients are clearly in place for this to offer outstanding drinking in a few years’ time. Anticipated maturity: 2011-2021. |
